Actor Roger Oakley, who played Tom, returned in 2008, when Sally saw him in a vision after she was stabbed. One of the earliest, most controversial stories in Home and Away was the rape of Carly when she went hitchhiking. Though the rape wasn’t shown on-screen, and actually the word ‘rape’ was never used, viewers caught on to what had happened. They arrived in Summer Bay along with their foster kids Frank Morgan, Carly Morris, Steven Matheson, Lynn Davenport, and Sally Keating. The next year, she and Christopher return for Sally's wedding toFlynn Saunders. Pippa then builds up a strong bond with fellow widowAngel Brooks whose husbandShane Parrish had also died several months earlier.

While doing promotional events, Clarke was called a "slut" for Roo's deception of Frank. Clarke had tried to lead a normal life away from filming, she even left her home phone number in the telephone directory. She was forced to change her number after fans repeatedly rang her asking how Frank was and what would happen next in their storyline. In Frank's backstory, he is a product of a broken home, born to a criminal father and an alcoholic mother. His father was sent to prison and his mother became incapable of looking after him. As a result, Frank became wayward, but that changed after he was fostered by Pippa and Tom.
Home and Away and the death of Tom Fletcher
Frank has been played by actors Bradley Pilato and Michael Scilusa during flashback sequences. Pippa is the daughter of Bert (Kevin Healy; Peter Collingwood) and Coral King . Pippa married her brother Danny's army mate Tom Fletcher in 1969 and they foster Frank Morgan in 1978 after his parents Les and Helena are incapable of looking after him. As time passes they take in more children from various homes and institutions; Carly Morris , Lynn Davenport , Sally Keating and Steven Matheson . Tom is retrenched in early 1988 and the family leave the city and relocate to Summer Bay and buy the local Caravan Park from Alf Stewart . Local troublemaker Bobby Simpson causes problems for the family by picking fights with Carly.
The next year Pippa, along with many other past residents, return to Summer Bay for Sally's wedding to Kieran Fletcher . Pippa then sells the house to The Sutherland family before departing. Frank tires of Roo being mean to Ailsa Hogan and they split up.
Summer Bay
Bateman thought it would create a good basis for a new television series. Home and Away initially focuses Pippa and Tom Fletcher on who move to the rural town of Summer Bay with their five foster children – one of these being Frank. Over three hundred young actors auditioned for the roles of the foster children. Bateman said that the foster children were played by professional actors and not just model types. It was first broadcast on the Seven Network on 17 January 1988. The following is a list of characters that appear in 2023, by order of first appearance.
Tom also shows Sally a glimpse into future which reveals Cassie Turner has contracted HIV and tells if she does return someone else will die. This is prophetic as Sally's friend Dan Baker dies shortly after. When Sally recovers, she tells Pippa about the vision and she is sceptical, but she still somewhat believes her. Alf also believes her, as he had been through a similar experience when he saw visions of Ailsa after her death during a brain tumour he was suffering from.
Casting
Sally worries that Pippa is becoming tired, but Pippa assures her that she is fine. She later forgets Darcy's name and when she drops a plate, Sally berates her for not taking a nap. Sally then reveals to Alf that Pippa has Mitochondrial disease and is dying. Tom also shows Sally a glimpse into future which revealsCassie Turner has contracted HIV and tells if she does return someone else will die. Roo returns to Summer Bay, hiding the fact that she is pregnant. Roo schemes to get Frank to sleep with her and Alf to catch them in bed together. Roo later announces that she is pregnant by Frank, and Alf believes her as he caught them having sex. Floss McPhee has a vision that Bobby causes a car crash which kills Frank. When he buys a car with a similar registration number, Bobby vandalises it. Tom then buys him a new vehicle with another similar registration.
She fell in love with her foster brother Frank and the pair got married. Though the fans loved them together, it was clear Frank’s heart was elsewhere and he left Bobby to go and live in New York with Roo. So viewers, Pippa and the foster children were all devastated when Tom suffered a stroke and died in 1990. Pippa then falls pregnant again and gives birth to another son, Dale. 18 years later, Tom reappears as a vision to Sally when she suffers a near-death experience after a second stabbing at the hands of Johnny Cooper . He shows Sally a vision of the Bay if she dies and an alternate reality where her long-lost twin brother Miles Copeland is murdered by Johnny instead.
Roo Stewart (1990–1991)Frank Jonathan Morgan is a fictional character from the Australian Channel Seven soap opera Home and Away, played by Alex Papps. Frank debuted on-screen in the serial's pilot episode and was the first character to appear. Frank is one of the five foster children of Pippa and Tom Fletcher who move to Summer Bay to begin a new life. The serial's creator Alan Bateman thought of the idea while observing the locals of a rural town in New South Wales opposing the idea of foster children living in the area. Papps was cast into the role and immediately began receiving fan mail.
She added that it was important to let teenagers show their maturity if they want to marry. Roo keeps her baby's paternity a secret until the wedding day. In the middle of exchanging vows, Roo decides to be honest and tells Frank the truth.
Christopher "Chris" Daniel Fletcher is the son of Tom Fletcher and Pippa Ross. He's the adoptive son of Michael Ross and the stepson of Ian Routledge. He's also the adoptive father of Sally Fletcher and the adoptive grandfather of Pippa Saunders. Home and Away icon Sally Fletcher was only small when she arrived in Summer Bay with her foster parents .
He survives the accident and Bobby tells Frank that she loves him. He tells her that while he has no intention of reconciling with Roo, he still loves her. The series begins while set in 1978, as Frank gets into trouble with the law. Mr. Jarvis , a man from the department of child services, explains that Frank's father Les , is a criminal and his mother, Helena is an alcoholic. Upon moving to Summer Bay, Frank tries to get a job in Alf Stewart's shop where he meets Roo.
Work soon begins to take its toll on Tom and he collapses following a stroke and is hospitalised for a number of weeks. Following his recovery, Tom and Pippa's marriage faces a testing time in the next year when Zac Burgess a shark hunter makes a play for Pippa and rumours of an affair are spread around. However, Zac is driven out of town after his behaviour is exposed and Tom and Pippa reconcile. While driving back from a football game with Bobby, Steven and Sophie Simpson , Tom suffers a second stroke and crashes the car.

Tom and Pippa Fletcher are a couple who, unable to have children of their own, foster five children and take off for the lazy beach community of Summer Bay. The children are a lively bunch which causes much conflict and general family feuding between each other and their foster parents. Flynn dies of cancer a couple of years later, leaving Pippa without a father figure until Sally begins datingBrad Armstrong. The family move into the Caravan Park, along withAlf Stewart. For her portrayal of Pippa, Chloe Marshall received a nomination for Best Young Actor at the 2008 Inside Soap Awards. James Joyce from the Newcastle Herald called Pippa a "medical miracle".
